This hands-on workshop will cover the basics of linked data, its application in a library environment, and how it can benefit librarians and library users. Participants will learn about Resource Description Framework (RDF), its importance to the functioning of the semantic web, and how to serialize RDF data to make it machine-readable. In addition, participants will discover how BIBFRAME (the Library of Congress’ replacement for MARC) is connected to linked data. The basics of Dublin Core, XML, and the software program Oxygen will be covered so that participants will be able to create well-formed linked data in RDF/XML by the end of the workshop.
